- -----------------RELEVANT TO USERS INSTALLING TELIX ON SYSTEMS---------------
- -----------------WITH ONLY ONE FLOPPY DRIVE AND NO HARD DRIVE.---------------
- The Telix 3.20 installation program, INSTALL.EXE, will work on any system
- having either two floppy drives, or one floppy drive and at least one hard
- drive. While Telix itself can work on a system having only a 720k floppy drive,
- special steps must be taken to install Telix on such a system.
- The easiest way to accomplish the installation is to temporarily create a
- ramdrive, and copy the Telix installation disk files to this ramdrive before
- running install. This will allow the floppy drive to be used to install to.
- For example, if you are using the RAMDRIVE.SYS ramdisk device driver that
- comes with DOS 3.2 or later, you can create a 360k ramdrive by using an editor
- to add the line
- DEVICE=RAMDRIVE.SYS 360
- to the CONFIG.SYS in the root directory of your boot disk (this assumes that
- the file RAMDRIVE.SYS is also in the root directory). To proceed, reboot the
- system so that the ramdrive takes effect, put the Telix distribution disk in
- drive A:, and copy the files to the ramdrive by typing
- COPY A:*.* C:
- Then run the install program by typing
- C:INSTALL
- Note that you will need a blank disk to install to... If you can not find
- RAMDRIVE.SYS, another possibility is VDISK.SYS, which comes with PC-DOS 3.0 or
- later. MAKE SURE TO REMOVE THE RAMDRIVE WHEN YOU ARE DONE, IT USES MEMORY!
